What actually is this Good Friday and Easter thing? Of course most of the world rejoices in the stretch time off work that it gives us, but what exactly do we think about?
In a nutshell, Good Friday commemorates the day Christ died on the cross for our sins. But the story didn’t end there – on the third day, he rose to life (Easter Sunday, or ressurection Sunday). Christ took our place on the cross and because He died on our behalf, we get to enjoy eternal life in heaven.
This work was conceptualised around that concept, where the black dots and splats represent ashes and death. But out of ashes, flowers grow. These flowers and leaves represent life. Played around with the elements and here we have a seamless patterned representation of what this weekend means to me.
